Twitter explained
Twitter is a Web-Instant Messenger-SMS service that allows you to send a group short messages. When people add you as their friend, you will receive their messages via your page on Twitter, SMS or IM if you choose. Check out my profile here.
How to create an account
Step 1
Go to Twitter.com and click on the Join For Free! link.

Step 2
Enter your user information. The Twitter username will be twitter.com/username. Your friends will see updates from that username. What’s cool is that you can change it anytime. You can upload a photo if you want. I suggest you do or you will get a standard boring blue avatar.
Protect my updates will only show your “Twits” aka updates to only those you have accepted as friends. It will not be in the public timeline as shown on the front page. It’s like the feature privacy on Myspace and Friendster.
Enter the code and your off to the next step!

Step 3
You can invite your friends to join Twitter or skip

Step 4
Now you can start Twitting! In order to Twit or receive Twits via phone or IM, go to Step 5.

Step 5
Click on the Activate Phone! link on the right sidebar.

Step 6
Enter your cell# with the “+ country code #”. The Philippines is +63 followed by your # and hit save. This will give you instructions to text a # to activate your phone. You will be charged by your phone company. Please check your local rates. The good thing is that it’s only a small 1 time fee so you can receive. In the Philippines, your not charged for incoming texts. However, you are charged for sending. Twitter does not have a Philippine gateway# yet.
As of 3/27, the IM part is not fully functional yet but it’s pretty straight forward. You would just have to add your username, add Twitter as a friend and send them a specific message. They currently support Jabber/GTalk and AIM. No MSN or Yahoo yet. I’ll update this guide as soon as it’s fully functional.
